Solar Energy a Reliable and Practical Source

These days we are experiencing a growing awareness to the fact that our energy resources, as they have been used in the last few years, are probably not going to last for long and that the energy markets are exposed to more and more rapid changes, some due to political reasons and others because of the changing climate of the planet.

Solar energy is a renewable free source of energy which is sustainable as it is not inexhaustible, unlike fossil fuels which are finite. It is also a non-polluting source of energy and it does not emit any greenhouse gases when producing electricity. The solar electricity that is produced can supplement your entire or partial energy consumption. Using solar energy means reducing your energy bills and saving money. Also having solar PV panels adds value to your home, they are low maintenance and unobtrusive. Germany is the global leader for solar-generated electricity.

Why choose solar energy?

Australia is the luckiest country in the world. Our geography gives us the opportunity to use the most natural, sustainable and clean energy in our homes – the energy from the sun.

Solar thermal applications are the most widely used category of solar energy technology. These technologies use heat from the sun for water and space heating, ventilation, and many other applications.
Solar energy is not a new concept, it has been properly introduced to the global public many years ago and successfully implemented in different parts of the world in different ways, so we can say that solar energy is known to most people, but it is still not as popular as it should be, as a cheap replacement for other sources of energy. The energy of the sun, from its direct sun rays that are projected directly at the earth or by giant wind turbines are free fro us to use, to manipulate for our needs, and this can be done by almost anyone in any place, it just needs to technology and the know-how.

Energy Matters specializes in solar power & wind energy for your home. We offer products and services including batteries, deep cycle batteries, renewable power, solar hot water and heating, solar panels, wind generators etc.

Facts about Renewable Solar Energy

The life on earth is dependent on solar energy and the smallest form of life like the microbes and plankton are also dependent on the solar energy for their survival. Solar energy is an environment friendly energy that is devoid of any carbon emissions which lead to pollution. It can be utilized productively and cost effectively across the world. You don’t have to reside in a desert to benefit from solar energy!

At present the inexpensive way to use the renewable solar energy in your homes in by using solar water heating systems or by making your own solar panels. This energy can be effectively used to warm your homes during winter and cool it during summer. The cold north European countries have been using solar energy from past several decades. The advancement in this technology has reached to the level where now, one can substitute it for the grid power. Some other facts about solar energy are:

Solar energy can be used to heat your swimming pools.

Industries are using solar energy to manufacture solar-powered vehicles.

NASA has successfully developed an airplane that can function entirely on solar energy.

How does the renewable solar energy work? Majority of the devices that are powered by solar energy use the photovoltaic cells, which produce electricity as soon as they are exposed to sun rays. These cells consist of panels which comprise of two layers and these layers become positively and negatively charged, once the sunlight falls on them. This leads to the production of electric current, which can be connected to the main supply of your house, and used to run your electric devices like computers, phones and blenders.

The amount of electricity produced depends on the size of the solar panel, strong sun rays and length of exposure to sun rays.

All this may seem like a rocket science, but the fact is that this is a very simple to make. You can start producing your electricity over the weekend. However for this you need to understand and follow the concepts, which are readily available on the Internet in the form of manuals or guides.

Our Voice: Clean energy is the dream, but to achieve it, we still need fossil fuels, even nuclear power

In the heartland of a blossoming alternative energy industry, the president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for 21st Century Energy talked about nuclear energy and fossil fuels.

Karen Alderman Harbert in her address before the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce on April 8 brought up some energizing points that aren’t emphasized enough.

Solar and wind energy are great, but they can’t entirely power our future.

That isn’t exactly a mixed message here, where Dow Chemical Co. is making building materials that snatch energy from the sun, Dow Corning Corp. is designing materials and processes for the solar energy industry, and where Hemlock Semiconductor Corp. is the leading maker of polycrystalline silicon, the main ingredient for solar panels and computer chips.

Not to mention burgeoning interest and developments in wind power, and the Dow-Kokam battery plant for automotive applications.

But not even that new battery plant can build a battery big enough to supply electricity to just our part of Michigan when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow.

For that, we need what are called baseload power plants — electricity generators that can power up at any time to meet a variety of energy demands. That means burning natural gas at the Midland Cogeneration Venture plant in Midland to power turbines, or burning coal at the Karn-Weadock plant at the mouth of the Saginaw River in Bay County.

Harbert pointed to nuclear energy, and to domestic oil exploration to meet our nation’s energy needs, even to make this country energy independent. But she said government regulations stymie nuclear construction and exploration of a huge percent of oil leases in the U.S.

“Are we energy independent or not?” she provoked the 300 people present.

Not, we’d say, until everybody gets realistic about our need for energy, and how we’ll be able to produce it.

In this part of Michigan, of course, nuclear energy has been dead and buried ever since years of delays, construction problems and protests killed the nuclear plant that then-Consumers Power tried to build in Midland.

Thus, Midland got the MCV natural gas-fired plant instead.

As a society then, we were more comfortable burning fossil fuels.

But now king coal, that mighty generator of the largest percentage of U.S. electricity, is under attack. It’s environmentally dirty — both to mine and to burn. Although technology has reduced many emissions, carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, remains an enormous concern.

After the recession ht, and energy demand plummeted, Consumers Energy shelved, but didn’t kill, its plans to build a new, cleaner-burning plant at its Karn-Weadock complex. A partnership that formed to build a coal plant in Midland quietly folded, too, during the global warming debate over greenhouse gasses.

All the interest in energy around here turned to solar and wind, burning biomass, with some talk, even, of using geothermal energy.

Definitely, those renewable resources have us enthusiastic for the new industrial sector they are building in our mid-Michigan economy.

But even many of us placing bets on these alternative energy sources must admit that they aren’t enough to power the rebuilding of Michigan. At HSC, Consumers Powers’ largest customer, state officials in order to assure a steady supply of electricity to the plant and its expansions, gave the company a huge subsidy to make the cost of using power here more attractive.

With abundant, and possibly cheaper, electricity here, that subsidy may not have been necessary. That sort of scenario, and the need for electricity on demand that only a baseload plant — or a really big battery — can supply is the reason why the discussions about new coal and nuclear power plants should remain alive.

We love the idea of a future powered with clean technology that is built here. But to get there, we’ll still need our older ways of making electricity.

Solar Energy Facts | the Future of Australian Homes and Cities

If you compare the dimension of the earth to the sun, you can comfortably fit over 1 million Earths inside it! If you are fascinated by the force of the earth’s gravity then beware of the colossal sun’s gravitational pull; the enormous pressure pulverises molecules, breaking them up into smaller components, and this breakdown produces a great deal of energy combined with other molecular components, which reaches the earth in 8.3 minutes in the form of sunlight. – Then the magic starts!

The sunlight carries two types of energy; the 1st is the light energy, which can then be manipulated by the solar panels to produce electricity, and the 2nd is heat energy which used by the solar hot water systems to produce a continuous flow of hot water.

The major challenge that we face with solar energy is that the sunlight isn’t available for 24 hours and even in the daytime continuous supply isn’t guaranteed, due to many factors. However countries like Australia are blessed with more than enough sunlight strength to provide useful energy production in summer even on cloudy days. The growth of solar technology has been rapid; if you turn your clock back a few decades ago, harnessing the sun’s energy wasn’t possible in any way, but today we have solar PV technology as the prime carrier of solar energy’s viability.

Australia is one of the leading nations in solar technological advances. Not only do we have perfect climatic conditions, but also the geographical capabilities and knowledge; Australia gave birth to the top solar scientist in world! But one major disadvantage to our widespread use of solar technology was the very size of our country and the logistical difficulties to overcome because of that, and so our earlier advancements got bogged down due to financial difficulties and other countries soon overtook us.

Fortunately though in the last couple of years extensive Government funding combined with technological breakthroughs has made solar energy much cheaper to obtain and so more accessible to every householder. Also  rapid improvements in manufacturing technology means it’s now possible to have much better power generation from the same size of panel system, so that an average roof space is more likely to be able to produce enough power to cover a considerable portion of your existing electricity bill.

Aside from household Solar use becoming more and more widespread, the really exciting news for both our environment and the Australian economy are the large commercial aspects now being pursued;  huge scale commercial solar power parks are being established in an attempt to generate the massive clean energy production necessary for large corporations to be able to bypass our dependence on traditional fossil fuel “dirty” energy sources, mainly coal.

This is where the proposed Carbon Tax will be hugely influential as it is designed to make it cheaper for industry and corporations to purchase clean renewable solar energy using “Solar Credits” then to continue to use electricity produced via dirty energy…….we will have to wait and see exactly what happens in Parliament for that one, but certainly this scheme or something similar seems  the only likely way for Australia to meet their emission target requirements for 2020.

Premier Solar is committed to being Australia’s leading Solar Power & Renewable Energy solutions provider for both homes and medium to large scale commercial solar projects. We are specialists in effective and affordable solar PV panel System design and use only fully certified installers and product components which pass all government standards and certifications, to enable our customers to access full discounts and rebates, as well enjoy the peace of mind of 25 year warranties from long established manufacturers.

Create Greener energy with solar power systems

The earth today, is at a critical stage. The rapidly expanding population and need for energy has put immense pressure on the planet’s natural resources. The use of fossil fuels like petrol, oil and coal has led the planet to the brink of self destruction. This is one of the main reasons why scientists and environmentalists are advocating the use of cleaner and renewable sources of energy for the progress and safety of the human society. Considering the constantly growing needs of the human society, the solar power system seems to be the most effective source of renewable energy available. The use of solar power to fuel needs as common as daily tasks to the more complicated industrial appliances have been propagated by many government and scientific organizations.

There are a number of alternatives for renewable fuel which are being constantly explored by many scientific researches. However, the solar power remains the most evident and easily available resource today. Tapping into solar energy can provide people with enough fuel to utilize and power their day to day activities. The science of converting this energy into electrical and mechanical power has developed to a considerable extent making the task a lot simpler for people. The use of solar panel has been instrumental in developing this potential energy source and making it available to the common public. The solar panel helps to convert the sun’s rays into thermal and electrical energy. This, in turn can be used to power electrical appliances for basic and every day use.

One of the major advantages of solar panel installation is its simplicity. These panels have no moving parts making them easy to install and operate. Moreover, their ability to perform in all weather providing the user with maximum power during all times of the day makes them perfect for customers. There is also the option of wiring together multiple solar power system to increase the capacity of output and energy produced. The panels help in absorbing the sun’s rays and preserving it for store, even during cloudy days or wintry conditions. Moreover, the use of solar energy results in no polluting emissions making it the cleanest source of power available today. The other advantage of the use of these power panels remains in their economy. The solar panel is known to reduce electrical and heating expenses to a great extent while providing the consumer with unchanged comforts. In times of growing concerns about the lack of energy resources and increasing pollution, the solar power system remains the most optimal solution available.

There are many services which provide information and technical inputs into this installation. The internet too offers a great deal of knowledge about these facilities. Customers can choose an experienced and reliable website in order to locate the best solar panel installation service for their needs. They can also avail of solar power rebate which is provided to users to encourage this initiative. This contributed to building a more economically and efficiently powered accommodation. The use of solar energy remains a very accessible and beneficial energy resource for the world.
